Competition F.A.Q.s

Below are some F.A.Q.'s regarding our competition season

How many competition's does Platinum Dance Studio attend each season?

Platinum Dance Studio aims to attend anywhere from 2-4 competitions a year. There is always an exception that if a competition is close enough and works for a majority of our dancers we may attend.

How will I know what competitions the studio is thinking about?

The owner and each instructor will have an idea of which competitions' they are interested in and once a decision is finalized the parent/dancer will be notified via their jackrabbit account, the website under the "events tab", the Facebook page, and your dancer may have information to give you prior to registration for each one.

Will each and every class attend every competition?

The simple answer is no. We expect all of our senior level classes to attend all competitions. The remainder of classes will be given the option to attend 1-2 competition each season.

*Note, a huge factor in this decision is the dance class and their ability to be competition ready.

What if my dancer cannot attend a competition?

We ask that once you know your dancer cannot attend you let the owner know. When a dancer cannot attend, the group must reblock their dance to make up for the missing dancer.

Can I just do a solo, duet, or trio?

No, in order to participate in a solo, duet, or trio a dancer must be in at least one group class. The class must be the same genre that they wish to do a solo, duet, or trio in.

Are competition fees included in my tuition?

No, each competition has its own fees associated with it.

So, how will I know what fees are associated with a competition?

Each competition has their own fees. Below is an example of what kind of extra costs are associated with a competition:

  • Entry fees for each group, solo, duet, or trio.
  • Costs for extra costumes or attire needed.
  • Travel expenses not limited to the following, but this is an example: gas, food, and lodging.

Does my dancer have to attend competitions?

No, but we ask that you notify the owner of the studio as soon as this decision is made, so we can coordinate appropriately.

When will competition fees be due?

This will depend on which competition and when their registration fees are due. Each parent/dancer will be given information with a deadline to pay for their fees. If the fees are not paid for by the deadline the dancer cannot attend the competition.

Is there an attendance policy?

Any group attending competition is expected to have good attendance, attendance is taken at the beginning of each class. For a dancer to do a solo, duet, or trio they also must have good attendance. The owner expects any dancer/parent to notify them immediately if an absence is expected. A dancer must schedule a private lesson at the owner's discretion when there has been more than (3) absences in two months.

Excessive absences can also result in the dancer being removed from the dance.

Will there be any other opportunities besides competition for my dancer to attend?

We attend the Showstoppers Convention in the Wisconsin Dells every year. This convention is in October, and once classes start your dancer will be given information regarding it. This information will also be posted under "calendar/events" tab
