Class Descriptions


Class Descriptions 2024-2025


  •  Tiny Dancers/Tiny Tap: Students will learn basic ballet technique, rhythm, and movement skills while exploring feelings and thoughts. 

Requirements: Students must be in kindergarten, be able to sit quietly, listen and follow instructions. Also, must be potty trained. 


  • Hip Hop Minis: Students will be introduced to basic hip-hop movements while movin’ and groovin’ to fun, age-appropriate music!


  • Intro to Acro:  Students will learn flexibility, balance, and coordination while learning basic gymnastics skills.


  • Musical Theatre:  This class will combine acting & dancing into music. Dance styles focused on are styles found in Broadway musicals. Students will learn dance technique and acting skills, while learning how to dance with emotion and emphasis their stage presence. 


  • Beginner Hip Hop: Students will learn more advanced hip-hop movements while dancing to funky, age-appropriate songs! 


  • Beginner Ballet:  Students will be taught a foundation of ballet technique along with musicality, balance, and coordination. 


  • Beginner Lyrical: Students will be taught movements based on the technique of ballet mixed with jazz. They will dance along to the lyrics of age-appropriate songs in order to learn musicality.


  • Beginner Jazz: Students will learn basic jazz technique while having lots of fun dancing to age-appropriate, jazzy tunes! 


  • Intermediate Hip Hop: Students will learn more advanced hip-hop movements while having fun!


  • Intermediate Ballet I/Intermediate Balley II/Pre-Pointe: Students will learn more advanced ballet technique while also strengthening their feet and legs. Preparing them for pointe shoes.  


  • Intermediate Lyrical:  Students will be taught more advanced lyrical movements and will dance along to the lyrics of age-appropriate songs.


  • Intermediate Jazz: Students will be taught more advanced jazz technique while dancing to age-appropriate jazzy tunes.


  • Intermediate Tap:  Students will be taught more advanced tap movements & will dance to age-appropriate songs, while having fun. 

  

  • Leaps & Turns (Ages 12&up): Leaps & turns is a technique-based class, where dancers will work towards perfecting different leaps, jumps, and turn combinations. Class will focus on developing necessary and strength training to perform a variety of leaps & turns. Enrollment in Jazz or Ballet is a requirement.


  • Senior Hip Hop:  By audition only. Students will learn advanced hip-hop movements while dancing to age-appropriate songs and having fun! Students must have taken at least two years of Intermediate Hip Hop in order to audition for this class. Senior Hip Hop will compete at multiple competitions throughout the year, along with taking part in multiple other extra performances. 


  • Senior Ballet: By audition only. Students will be taught advanced ballet technique. Students must have taken at least two years of Intermediate Ballet before auditioning for this class. Senior Ballet will compete at multiple competitions throughout the year, along with taking part in multiple other extra performances.


  • Senior Lyrical: By audition only. Students will be taught advanced lyrical technique while dancing along to the lyrics of age-appropriate songs. Students must have taken at least two years of Intermediate Lyrical before auditioning for this class. Senior Lyrical will compete at multiple competitions throughout the year, along with taking part in multiple other extra performances.


  • Senior Jazz:   By audition only. Students will be taught advanced jazz technique while dancing along to the lyrics of age-appropriate songs. Students must have taken at least two years of Intermediate Jazz before auditioning for this class. Senior Jazz will compete at multiple competitions throughout the year. 


  • Adult Jazz: This is a fun class for any and all adults looking to learn some basic jazz techniques while getting in good exercise. We explore many different moves and practice them together as a group. This class is extremely fun, and we hope to see you there! 


Dress Code


Dress Code

Dancers are expected to arrive at the studio dressed in the appropriate dancewear and ready to dance at their scheduled start time. In order for each student to fully be able to participate in class and the learning experience, she/he should wear clothing that permits movement and allows instructors to easily view muscles and body lines making for significantly easier corrections. Hair must be pulled back and tied away from the face securely. Gum is not allowed inside the studio. Please ensure your dancer uses the bathroom prior to dance beginning. 


Practice attire

  • Tiny Dancers: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and ballet shoes
  • Hip Hop Minis: leggings or shorts, a t-shirt, and hip-hop shoes.
  • Beginner Hip Hop: leggings or shorts, a t-shirt, and hip-hop shoes.
  • Beginner Ballet: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and ballet shoes.
  • Beginner Lyrical: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and lyrical shoes.
  • Beginner Jazz: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and jazz shoes. Students may wear a t-shirt over their leotard.
  • Beginner Tap: leotard, leggings/shorts, and tap shoes
  • Intermediate Hip Hop: leggings or shorts, a t-shirt, and hip-hop shoes.
  • Intermediate Ballet: leotard, shorts or skirt, tights, and ballet shoes.
  • Intermediate Lyrical: leotard, skirt or shirts, tights, and lyrical shoes. Students may wear a t-shirt over their leotard. 
  • Intermediate Jazz: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and jazz shoes. Students may wear a t-shirt over their leotard.
  • Leaps & Turns: Leotard, shorts or leggings, tights and jazz shoes or dance socks at instructor discretion.
  • Pre-Pointe/Pointe: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and pointe shoes.
  • Intro to Acro/Gymnastics: leotard, shorts or leggings, tights, no shoes.
  • Senior Hip Hop: leggings or shorts, a t-shirt, and hip-hop shoes.
  • Senior Ballet: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and ballet shoes.
  • Senior Lyrical: leotard, skirt or shorts, tights, and lyrical shoes. 
  • Senior Jazz: leotard, skirt, shorts or leggings, tights and jazz shoes.


 Shoe Requirements: dancers are required to wear specific shoes for each class to ensure safety and ease of motion. For a complete list of shoe requirements, please call the studio or talk to your instructor. You will be able to purchase all shoes at the Open House in August. After the initial shoe sale in August, you will be able to order directly through Second Skin, which is located in Marquette. Costumes: The dance instructors will determine the selection of recital costumes and will take all necessary measurements in November. Costume fees will need to be paid no later than December 1st. Some costumes require parents to do a limited amount of sewing and piecing together. Tights are a separate fee.
